Add the standard deviation 1.Click once on the chart to select the whole thing. 2.Tabs at the top will change to show chart tools. Select layout out. 3.Click on error bars, then click on more error bar options, at the bottom. 4.Format error bars dialogue box appears. 5.Click on custom, then specify value. 6.Dialogue box, custom error bars appears.
7. Click on the box underneath positive error value. 8. Click and drag on the cells that contain the standard deviations for the 5 populations. 9.Click on the box underneath the negative error values and do the same. 10.you are telling excel exactly what values to enter on the bar chart.
