Far Fliers Distance Lab 8/22/2014 Notebook pages 14-16

Problem: Does the Basic Dart Airplane or the Belly- Button Glider fly farther?

Hypothesis I predict that the _____________________ will fly farther.

Procedure 1.Make both airplanes. 2.Fly the Basic Dart 3 times from the start line. Try to throw it the same way! 3.Measure the distance it flew each time in meters. 4.Record the distance in a data table and calculate the average distance. 5.Fly the Belly-Button Glider and repeat steps Compare your data for each plane.

Data (Page 15) Airplane NameDistance Trial 1 (m) Distance Trial 2 (m) Distance Trial 3 (m) Average Distance Basic Dart Belly-Button Glider

Conclusion (Page 15 and 16) Write a full five sentence paragraph! -Which plane flew further? How did you know? How much further did it fly? (Hint! Use numbers!) -Why do you think that is? Include 3 observations. -What could you do better? List two areas where you may have accidentally changed the experiment.
