Clear Judgment

The Disposition To Disapprove Cruel Judgments Rob Us of the Clear Judgment We Need For Personal Success. Cruel Judgments Invite Others To Discredit Whatever Insights Might Have Been Expressed. Cruel Judgments Invite Others To Retaliate With Harsh Words of Their Own. Our Standard of Measure Will Either Work For Us or Against Us. –Luke 6:38

Jesus Uses A Jewish Proverb (Ch 7:3-5) The “Speck” – A Small Fault The “Log” – A Much Greater Fault We Must Consider Our Personal Faults Before Focusing On Others. (vs 3) We Must Admit That Our Faults Limit Our Judgment. (vs 4) We Cannot Help Others Make Small Corrections While Blinded By Our Limitations. (vs 5) We Can Help Others, Only After Making Personal Changes. (vs 5)

Applying The Passage It does not eliminate the role of reproof. It challenges us to consider our sincerity and love. It does forbid us from being an unfair and unhelpful critic, or a self-righteous and unmerciful judge. Let us show compassion: “When you can so readily overlook your own wickedness, why are you more clear sighted than an eagle…in spying out the failings of your friends?”

Removing The Beam Prepares & Prompts Us To… –Make A Helpful Judgment. –Be Candid & Consistent. –See Things As They Are. –Make Proper Allowances. May God Help Us Act With Clear Judgment –To Correct Our Faults –To Exercise Clear Judgment –To Share Pearls of Wisdom To Searching Hearts
