Henry Morgan

Pirates and Buccaneers During the time when The Stuart kings and queens ruled Britain many European countries sent explorers to new parts of the world to claim new lands for their own countries. Many times there were arguments between countries such as Britain and Spain because each claimed that they owned the same island or the same part of a new country. As a result there were many fights and the new lands were not safe places to be at times. To reach these new lands meant long and dangerous sea journeys. Pirates and buccaneers were common and life at sea was very hazardous. Some of these pirates were even encouraged by their own countries to attack ships and towns of their enemies.
