That is what living under the law is like. But Jesus told us that we are to trade in the yoke of the law and take upon us His yoke. (Matthew 11:29). “In contrast to the law, the yoke of Jesus is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:30). When we become Christians, we do away with our slavery to the law and become servants of Jesus Christ. And when you are a servant of Jesus, you do not experience the burden of the law; instead, you know the easy, gentle yoke of a relationship with the Savior.”

A person might revel in the fact that he had not murdered anyone or committed adultery or stolen any property. He could honestly brag that he has kept all of the feast days and honored the Sabbath and given his tithes. “But such conduct never provides a genuine reward because it leaves that person feeling empty. At the core of his being, he knows that it is not enough. And the longer he tries to live life by the law, the more he realizes how impossible it is to achieve any lasting peace. His reward is fleeting and it fades away. “But when we live by faith in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit … brings the lasting reward of hope and the assurance of righteousness in Christ. We have a hope in righteousness that is ours purely through faith.”
