Refrigerated Cargoes

They are essentially cargoes that are stored at temperatures cooler than the ambient. They may be Refrigerated Cargoes

They may also be Refrigerated Cargoes

Food items Or Non-food Items They may be

Chilled Cargoes Or Frozen Cargoes More importantly, they may be

Refrigerated Cargoes - Classification Refrigerated Cargoes Food ItemsNon-Food Items Chilled Cargoes Frozen Cargoes

Chilled and Frozen Cargoes º -10º C º Above -10º C: Chilled Cargoes º Below -10º C: Frozen Cargoes Examples: Fruits, Vegetables, Dairy Products, Beverages, Chilled Meat, Leather, Chemicals, Photo films etc. Examples: Frozen Meat, Fish, Marine Products, Frozen Vegetables, Chemicals, Ice Cream etc.

Chilled Cargoes Any cargo which is stored above -10º C Live Cargo, Generates Heat continuously Precise Temperature Control +/- 0.2º C is essential to prevent deterioration of cargo

Frozen Cargoes Any Cargo which is stored below -10º C Dead Cargo, Does not generate heat continuously Precise Temperature Control is not critical for preservation i.e., If Requirement is -15 º C, it can go upto -18 º C.
