Habitat The green tree frog is found in swampy areas near lakes, streams, and ponds.

Interesting Information Small frog, reaching 2.5 inches in length Bright green Diet – crickets, moths, flies, etc. Big round ears on the sides of their head –Some frogs make so much noise that they can be heard for miles! –They have special ears that are connected to their lungs which keeps the frogs from hurting themselves with their noisy calls! Super Skin : They drink and breathe through it Frogs shed their skin to keep it healthy This looks pretty nasty. They twist and turn to stretch themselves out of their old skin. Finally, the frog pulls the skin off over their head, like a sweater, and then (this is gross) the frog EATS IT! Do frogs have teeth? Yes, most frogs have a ridge of very small cone teeth around the upper edge of the jaw

Life Cycle

1 st Stage Frogs lay many eggs. Most eggs are found in calm water. The eggs usually hatch In about 6 – 21 days.

2 nd Stage 7 to 10 days after the tadpole has hatched, it will begin to swim around and feed on algae. Some even school like fish. The gills disappear. Tadpoles get tiny teeth.

3 rd Stage After about 6 to 9 weeks, tiny legs sprout. The tadpole may now eat dead insects and even plants.

After about 9 weeks, the tadpole looks more like a teeny frog with a really long tail.

4 th Stage The frog loses it’s tail. Between 12 to 16 weeks, depending on water and food supply, the frog has completed the full growth cycle known as metamorphosis.
