Field Setup Field Setup (5 stations) Separate large field into three equal “stations” using cones, and small field into two equal “stations” using cones Separate U8-U12 teams into 5 groups as follows: Create 1 U8 group Create 1 U9 group Create 1 mixed U10 group out of U10 Black and U10 Red teams Create 2 mixed U11/U12 groups out of U11 Black, U11 Red, and U12 teams Assign one coach to each “station” Each coach will run a game with the group in their “station” for approximately 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, groups will rotate clockwise (e.g. #1->2, 2->3, etc) to a new “station” Repeat until each group has participated in all stations ~40yds ~70yds Kent City FC ©

Station #1: Receive & Turn (15 min) Setup: For each set of 4-5 players, the setup will be: A pair of cones in the middle about 2-3 yards apart, with a cone set about 10 yards on either side of the pair of cones Line 2 players behind each of the single cones so that each single cone has 2-3 players (no less than 3 players total per group) All but 1 player starts with a ball Repeat this setup for each group of 4-5 players Game: Player without ball will run through pair of cones and “check” towards player on opposite end with ball, and call and motion for “BALL!” Player on opposite end will pass ball to player calling for ball Player will receive ball and execute one of the following turns: inside of foot between cones, outside of foot on outside of cones, cryuff turn in between cones Player will then dribble ball back into the line they started in Player that just passed ball will now run into middle of pair of cones and “check” to player opposite with ball, and drill repeats Coaching: Encourage proper passing/receiving/turning technique Have all players do a specific type of turn first, then the next type, etc, then let them do whichever they prefer Kent City FC © 2014

Station #2: Turn & Pass Game (15 min) Setup: Make a circle with 10 yard radius 3 players to start in the middle with the rest outside the circle 3 of the players outside the circle have a ball Game: Players inside the circle “check” towards a player with the ball and call and motion for “BALL!” Player with ball passes to player inside circle Player inside circle receives ball, turns using one of the practiced turns, and passes to a player without a ball that calls for “BALL!” on the outside of the circle Continue for two minutes, then rotate players inside circle with new players Coaching: Encourage communication “BALL!” and for outside players that pass the ball to yell “TURN!” to player inside circle If players hold ball too long (more than 3-5 seconds) start timing them out loud to encourage quicker release Variation: add a single passive defender to add pressure Kent City FC © yds 35yds

Station #3: Turn and Shoot (15 min) 1v1 Pop-up goals on either end of the field Players line up at one end of field, with half on one side of pop-up goal, and half on the other side All balls next to coach on opposite end of field Set a cone about 8 yards in front of “right” line First player on “right” side line up at 8-yard cone Coach will distribute a ball either on ground or in-air to player on “right” side As soon as ball is in air, 1 st player from each team tries to win the ball Play 1v1, with player on “right” side scoring on nearest goal next to starting point, and player on “left” side scoring on far goal near coach Switch lines after turn 20yds 30yds 8yds Kent City FC © 2014

Station #4 Target Player Turn & Shoot Game (15 min) Setup: Create a “target zone” on each end of the field, about 8-10 yards wide 2 BIG goals on either end Divide players into two teams, each team a different color pinnie All balls next to coach on sideline at mid-field one player from each team line up inside each “target zone” as the target player or target player defender Goalie at each goal The rest of the players line up inside middle of field, spread out Ball starts with coach Game: To score, players in middle have to pass the ball around and to target player in “target zone” “Target zone “ player turns with ball and shoots on goal Reset if goal is made. If defender wins ball, they must pass ball to teammate in middle “target zone” players cannot leave zone, but can move around within it If ball goes out of bounds, ball starts in “end-zone” of team that did not touch ball last When one team scores, ball is put back into play by receiving player in “end- zone” Field players cannot enter either “end-zone” Rotate players in “end-zone” every two minutes Coaching: Encourage communication “ball!”, “TURN!”, “man-on”, “drop”, etc. Variation: have players “mark” a player on the opposite team, and only defend them (players on opposite teams don’t necessarily have to mark each other, so if player A marks player B, it doesn’t mean player B has to mark player A) Kent City FC © yds 45yds

Station #5: 2v2 Pass to Outside (15 min) Setup: Make a 20x20 yard square with cones Split group into two teams, with one team wearing pinnies Put two players from each group in center of square, and the rest of the players on four corners of square as shown, with each team split on opposite corners Game: Ball starts on one of the corners Players on corner passes ball to teammate inside square Team receiving pass has to get ball to teammate on opposite corner (not to same player that passed to them) Player on corner that receives pass will replace the player that passed by dribbling or passing to teammate in square, and player that passed will now line up on corner If the other team wins the ball, they will try to pass it to one of their outside players, etc. Coaching: Encourage communication “BALL!” and for outside players that pass the ball to yell “TURN!” to player inside circle If players hold ball too long (more than 3-5 seconds) start timing them out loud to encourage quicker release Variation: Place players around square on midpoints as well Play 3v3 with larger square Kent City FC © yds 35yds
