Review comprehension questions or have your student retell the story when they have finished. You are responsible for all Guided Reading books that come home. Replacement of book is $15 as they come in sets of 6.

Grading Graded work will have : –3 – for work that is on-level –2 – for work that is progressing –1 – for work that needs improvement –Teachers may use + or – to give further indication of work quality. Report cards are graded in the same manner Report cards will be reviewed in great detail at your child’s parent/teacher conference.

Spelling Tests Spelling Tests have two grades –One on front for words (including the mystery words) –One on back for dictation Spelling dictation sentences grade the number of sounds the student gets correct when writing. Example: D o y ou l i k e t o p l ay I n th e s a n d? Each underlined letter(s) represents a sound the student should get. This sentence has a total of 20 sounds.

Finishing Work Teachers reserve the right to take away the following privileges if students are not finishing class work in an appropriate amount of time. –Recess –Computer lab “Fun Friday” is reserved for students who have finished all of their class work for the week.

Behavior School wide color system is used for behavior –Green – Great day! –Blue – Warning – 5 minutes of recess –Yellow – 10 minutes of recess –Orange – All of recess –Red – Office referral First grade teachers do not “change colors back”. Students must experience the consequence of their choices. Standards for “Gatoriffic” students are on the conduct calendar each six weeks.
