A JOURNEY OF MALMÖ’S BUSINESS LIFEINDUSTRYINDUSTRY TRENDS THE REGION POPULATION GROWTH WORKFORCE CORPORATE STRUCTURE INFO Malmö has a flourishing commercial life with strong growth and belief in the future. In the 1990s, the city went through a tough period in which several industries closed down and the active workforce shrank. During this period, decisions were made including the foundation of Malmö University (established in 1998) and the construction of the Öresund Bridge (inaugurated in 2000). Two initiatives among many that have contributed to Malmö’s development from an industrial town into a knowledge city. WORKFORCE

THE REGION POPULATION GROWTH WORKFORCE CORPORATE STRUCTURE INFO A JOURNEY OF MALMÖ’S BUSINESS LIFE NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES – MORE INFO INFO 2008/2009 From 2009, the data is shown according to the new division into industries. For this reason, there is a break in the time series in the graphs. Even in those cases where the industry name is the same, both before and after 2009, such as ‘manufacturing’, the underlying division may have changed. Therefore, the data for the new and old divisions into industries cannot be compared. We have chosen to retain and present the old definitions in order to give an impression of the long-term development. x INDUSTRYINDUSTRY TRENDS
