Divided Kingdom 930 BC- 722 BC Some of the Israelites revolt against Rehoboam. He maintains control over the southern portion of the kingdom- Judah Jeroboam takes control of the northern part of the kingdom- Israel Following the death of Solomon, there is a revolt against the new king
Downfall of Israel & Judah Babylonian Exile 722BC – 583 BC 722 BC, Israel is destroyed by Assyria 593 BC – 583BC The Babylonians attack and conquer Judah. Jerusalem and the Temple is destroyed 583 BC Israel is taken to Babylonia and is forced to live in exile there
Return, Restoration & Rededication Ezra, the priest rededicates the people and the temple to God After 50 years in exile the Israelites return to Jerusalem The Temple is rebuilt 538BC- 513BC
Maccabean Revolt & Rule 167BC-64BC After a long period of foreign domination the Jews win their independence; This last for about 100 years In 64 BC the Roman Empire invades and conquers Palestine
Messianic Fulfillment The promised savior arrives and lives among us for 33 years 0-33AD
The Church 33AD- End Pentecost- The Holy Spirit gives strength to the apostles and the Apostolic Church begins The Apostles and then those they ordain continue the mission of Jesus The Church will exist, with the Holy Spirit as its guide until Jesus comes again
