2013 Evaluation Comments

What would you say to a person who is thinking about signing up for this conference next year? “Incredibly relevant, necessary, informative and life-changing” “This is the best place to find and grow your community…” “that you will come away with new understandings to think about for a very long time and to apply immediately”

Briefly describe the most valuable learning experience you had at this conference. “Hearing perspectives and experiences I don’t have at my institution” “the interaction between sessions w/the attendees”

Did you get what you expected out of this conference? Please explain. “I got not only a better theoretical understanding and backdrop, but also excellent practical knowledge – how indigenous research happens/works – why it is so important & useful” “I especially enjoyed the human capital”

General Remarks Overall 2013 was a success Felt “love” from the greater community in attendance, and many other expressed emotions Meeting their Bibliography Colleagues from higher education repeatedly expressed the influence sessions were having on their thinking about current courses they teach, on the development of new courses, and on the sense of community they felt would support their efforts.

Reaffirming – for thinking and current work of participants

AIRA 2013 certainly did a remarkable job of embracing participants in the community of Indigenous researchers; this was one of the most reported themes in the participant feedback. Many attendees expressed their satisfaction with their membership in this group of scholars that they felt were there to support them, answer questions, and provide direction in their intellectual and personal journeys.
