To draw a conclusion from a selection look for supporting details and combine the details with what you know. To help ask yourself the following: I conclude that …………….. because the paragraph said that ……………………… and I know that …………………..

Shark Tooth If you held a tooth from a shark that lived 5 million years ago, it would cover nearly all your hand. If you held a tooth from a modern great white shark, it would fit in the palm of your hand. Why do you think the very old shark’s tooth is so much larger than the modern shark tooth?

The harpsichord is the cousin of the piano. The harpsichord makes a rich sound, like a piano. However, it is different from the piano. The player cannot make the music loud or soft as easily as on a piano. Loudness and softness make the music more interesting. After pianos were invented, harpsichords were nearly forgotten for more than a century. Why were harpsichords forgotten after the piano was invented?

Draw a Conclusion 1.What do you know from the selection? 2.What do you know from your own life and how is this related to the selection? 3.Draw a conclusion. A piano makes soft and loud music that is interesting and a harpsichord can not do these things. We like to listen to music only if it is interesting to us. Harpsichords were forgotten because pianos made better music that was more interesting,

The ant worked hard all day collecting food for the winter. The grasshopper did not work. Food the ant and grasshopper eat in the winter will be gone during the winter.
