Dear Reader, A student begins to learn how to write in elementary school and continues to study the art of writing year after year. Throughout the years of elementary, middle, and high school I have learned how to express who I am and effectively discuss my own opinions through writing. It is difficult to reflect on the time I have spent working on my own writing because each year I learn so much. Each teacher shows me how to be a great writer, but each of them also share ideas that branch to the independence of the unique writing style that I try to captivate. As a young writer I had a tendency to only tell a story using simple details. In middle school I learned how to incorporate my feelings and thoughts into a paper. I also learned the correct structure of a successful paper. During the past four years I have learned how to analyze other pieces of writing as well as my own. Without writing in my life today it would be difficult to navigate through life. Sincerely, Kristyn Littleton

Memories to a Continued Path I remember the energy The enthusiasm of my friends laughing around me We would stare with passion in our eyes, as the forts we made came alive. Our mothers would call and tell us, “Just twenty more minutes!” Playing war under the bundle of limbs, Creatively making the weapons of “destruction” Escaping the boredom after the final battle. Everyone wanders away to the quick sand to the left Pretending we can’t get away from the “Sand Man” hearing the words “Times up!” The next morning the sun screams for attention. Simply awaking with the summer heat of another enjoyable day Attempting to make my bed in the orderly fashion. Eating half my peanut-butter bagel, As Rebel eats the other half I slip to him under the table. It would have been wise to consider the effect of playing on a half empty stomach Now, as my mind and spirit grew as fast as a shooting star I began to understand the importance of a well-balanced life Keeping harmony with others, Sympathizing with those who were in need While sitting in this forgotten fort, pondering who I will become in the future… Growing in my spiritually over the past years, Feeling the calm and relaxing nature it presents me with. If everyone could understand this peace I’ve grown to know Our communication with others would positively grow. Growing more a physical level, And still on a mental level as well. Feeling infinite and smart Seeming more sentient… To the things circling around me. Becoming aware of my subconscious more than ever before. Living. This world of opportunity. Unfortunately, filled with sorrow yet idealism. A new love for humanity, Being contemplated in my mind. Opening myself to this continued path…sparkling with imagination. under the bundle of limbs, Creatively making the weapons of “destruction” Escaping the boredom after the final battle.
