East Hardin Middle School The Mission of the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) is to advance the individual capabilities; to motivate all students; and to create leadership opportunities through the use of technology.

Goal 2 The STLP will provide leadership opportunities for all students. At the beginning of the school year, announcements are made every morning, inviting everyone to join STLP. At EHMS, we welcome any student to join throughout the entire school year. Our STLP group meets during school on monthly club days, on Tuesday mornings before school, and after school on Tuesdays & Thursdays. We have so many students involved in other extra-curricular activities, our attendance is limited by choice of the students. C LICK TO VIEW FRONT & BACK OF APPLICATION. MS Word

Goal 2 The STLP will provide leadership opportunities for all students. The EHMS news team, Rebel Report, produces a live news broadcast for the school each morning. STLP members serving on the news crew arrive at the library minutes early to work on the daily broadcast. News is presented for our school as well as announcements of community activities. The crew consists of students from all grade levels, with older students training younger students. Behind the scenes crew Reporters on camera

Goal 6 The STLP will develop instructional activities which integrates technology and benefits the school and supports KETS. technology and benefits the school and supports KETS. The Rebel Report STLP students sell “broadcast spots” they call Happy Grams to students and staff at EHMS. This originally started out as a problem solving plan to help raise funds in order to replace outdated and broken broadcasting equipment. It developed into a real world experience reinforcing the necessity for advertising in today’s field of broadcasting. With added funds from other sources, the crew is now learning to operate updated broadcast equipment, but they still sell Happy Grams to provide a service – a voice for students.

Every nine weeks during EHMS Mid-term Open House Night, the STLP crew works in the computer lab to help parents with the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) Parent Review. The STLP crew sets up the lab for Open House by getting the parent ILP password /sign-in table set up and the computers set to the ILP log on site. The STLP crew uses the Smart Board to train parents on the ILP review process. They also provide parents with individual help on using the computer to log on and navigating through their child's ILP for review. Training on ILP with Smart Board STLP Helping Parent with ILP Goal 5 The STLP will develop activities which benefit communities. Goal 6 The STLP will develop instructional activities which integrates technology and benefits the school and supports KETS.

STLP students are given the opportunity to post special events and activities on the scrolling message board in our cafeteria. STLP members interview staff, summarize upcoming events, and program the message board. This gives the community and other students the opportunity to keep up-to-date with the events happening at EHMS.
