Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a donkey. Jesus is hailed as King. The people wave palm branches and shout “God save us, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” The long awaited Messiah has come.

33 years Jesus lived a sinless life. He did nothing to rebel against God. There is no sin of commission. He does everything that God asks of Him. There is no sin of omission. Jesus rides into Jerusalem not only as Messiah but also as the spotless sacrifice.

For 30 years we hear little of the life of Jesus. At the age of 30 Jesus is baptized by John. After His baptism, Jesus is led into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tested by the devil.

Jesus is tempted by the devil. First Temptation – physical hunger Second Temptation – supernatural protection Third Temptation – spiritual worship Jesus responds each time with scripture.

These three tests are not the only tests Jesus faced in his earthly ministry. Every step takes Jesus closer to the cross. With every step Jesus remains sinless by always obeying the voice of His Father. As a result, the spotless, sinless, Lamb of God, rides into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.

“For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”

“So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with Him.”
