May 3, 2011 Write your homework in your agenda: Text p. 691 #1-6 Write an algebraic equation for each problem and solve. 2) Take out a piece of loose leaf paper. 3) Here’s your Warm-Up…. Describe how to solve and . Are the solutions the same or different? Explain.

Consecutive Integer Problems The smaller of two consecutive even integers is six more than half the larger. Find the integers. Three consecutive odd integers are such that twice their sum is thirty less than eight times the third integer. Find the integers. 14, 16 5, 7, 9

Number Problems One number is twice another number. If 12 is subtracted from the larger number the result is seven more than the smaller number. Find the numbers. The total of two numbers is 35. Four times the larger number is four less than five times the smaller number. Find the two numbers. 16, 19 19, 38

Application Problems 67 members A choir is singing at a festival. On the first night, 12 members were absent, so the choir stood in 5 equal rows. On the second night, only 1 member was absent, so the choir stood in 6 equal rows. The same number of people stood in each row each night. How many members are in the choir? 67 members

Hillary has 51 trading cards. Application Problems Troy has three times as many trading cards as Hillary. Subtracting 9 from the number of trading cards Troy has and then dividing by 6 gives the number of cards Sean has. If Sean owns 24 trading cards, how many cards does Hillary have? Hillary has 51 trading cards.
