Gliding Scholarship Immediate Actions Cable Break: Select approach attitude (unless below 100 ft) Pull cable release twice Wait for approach speed Decide if there is room to land ahead Winch failure: Select a level attitude to accelerate If speed does not increase treat as above Immediate Actions

Gliding Scholarship Low Launch Failure Launch Failure Immediate actions Can I land ahead - YES Re-check approach speed then carefully select airbrakes Make small heading change if necessary to avoid obstructions Carry out normal landing ahead

Gliding Scholarship Medium Launch Failure Launch Failure Immediate actions Can I land ahead - NO Re-check approach speed then turn downwind If below 250 ft continue turn onto best heading Wings level by 100 ft. If above 250 ft roll out downwind Fly downwind until 250 ftor the nominated downwind boundary Turn into wind Wings level by 100 ft If height available – intercept normal circuit pattern

Gliding Scholarship Launch Failure Below 100 ft It will not be possible to select the approach attitude. The appropriate attitude to select will depend on the height at which the failure occurs. In general the lower the height the failure occurs at the higher the attitude required. At a very low level it may be necessary to hold the initial climb attitude! Launch Failure Below 100 ft
