WHEN YOU HAVE ACCESS TO KNOWLEDGE, YOU MAY CONQUER THE WORLD Pictures about simulations

CLC-ONUm Simulation and SCHOOL NATIONS FAIR This year the CLC carries out its first UNO – United Nations Organization – simulation, with the CLC–ONUm Project aimed at students in levels US3 and US4. The simulation is based on the MUN (Model United Nations).

Our United Nations Organization Model has been named CLC-ONUm (m for model, simulation). It aims at helping the students to think, in a realistic way, on how the United Nations (UNO) work by being diplomats for a day,

discussing central issues to the international agenda such as human rights, the environment, security, economy, among others. The official language is English, with the students developing the following abilities: speaking, listening, writing, use of English and reading.

The CLC-ONUm simulation will keep the same rules currently used in the UNO meetings. Experiencing the UNO environment Because this is a serious event, the students feel deeply in earnest for the meeting, even showing its importance on the clothes they wear. For it is a special occasion for a student to dress as a diplomat!

The CLC-ONUm SimulationONU objectives are as follows: - Practice using the English language, as this will be the official language in the simulation; - Motivate the students’ ability for thoughtful consideration and creativity, advancing the worthiness of and disseminating knowledge; - Encourage the development of citizenship and the interest in a critical view regarding international issues;

First moment How the CLC-ONUm works On the day of the simulation, the students defend and take on the interests of the country they represent, which is an interesting opportunity because they need to study it in depth, that is, the global context in which the country is set and its geographical and economic characteristics. On the day of the simulation, the students defend and take on the interests of the country they represent, which is an interesting opportunity because they need to study it in depth, that is, the global context in which the country is set and its geographical and economic characteristics.

By doing this the students come in contact with new cultures, costumes, religions, economic models, and political and social structures; they come to understand the political actions of the countries in the international setting; and learn to differentiate the interests of the country appointed to them from their own interests and opinions. The students will receive their delegation with committees and themes that will be released by the Coordination and Teachers. Based on the CLC-ONUm Guide Book, the teacher will give all the explanation about what a delegation or committee is, together with other information. In order to help with the research, the CLC will make available the CLC ONLINE, with lists of electronic sites containing important clues. It will also hand out a Guide Book that brings a Preparation Manual with a history of the organizations committee, conclusive rules, history of the issues to be discussed, etc... Enrollment is free of charge and the works must be registered by the appointed teacher.

Students´ procedure at the CLC- ONUm Simulation The fear of public speaking is one of the most common phobias. Almost everybody is frightened by the Idea. However, the oratory is and indispensable tool for a student lawyer.

There is a rule to be followed by the good speaker: twice as slow, twice as loud. It sounds like a joke, but you will be surprised (and will surprise your friends and teacher) when you find out how efficient this rule is. You should not be afraid to pause for a few seconds during the speech, for these pauses may have a dramatic effect and catch the committee’s attention.

Material you should have with you at the simulation site Once you register for the CLC-ONUm, you will receive a folder containing a notebook and a pen. Although you do not need to bring this type of material from home, it might be a good idea to bring some pens and extra paper to be used as scrap paper. You may bring your cellular phone, but you must turn it off once in the committee. The directors and the delegates will not appreciate a speech being interrupted by a ring, no matter how legal that might be. The CLC-ONUm will offer the delegates computers to be used in order to type the works. Should you find it necessary, and provided you are not part of a history committee, you are allowed to bring a laptop or a handheld computer, which will be under you responsibility. Although they are not prohibited, we do not recommend that you bring a notebook, a palmtop or an I-pod. The CLC-ONUm will offer the delegates computers to be used in order to type the works. Second moment School Nations Fair It will be held at CLC Anexo after the CLC-ONUm simulation. This will be a relaxing moment when students will be at the cultural stand prepared for the country they represent, helping to further develop the motivation and diffusion of the different cultures.

Teachers who will be appointed to the various stands will carry out the evaluation. This evaluation, together with the performance at the CLC-ONUm simulation, will add to the school grade for the third term of the school year. English will continue being the official language. Guests to the CLC-ONUm will be directed to the United |Fair..

System of assessment for the speaking grade 03 Teachers will visit the stands for evaluation of the students work. The total grade will be an average of the presentation of the CLC-ONUm simulation plus the evaluation at the stands in the School Nations Fair. The grade for the presentation will be individual.
