Overviews. To see an overview of the Power Presentations, click the Overview button. If you’d like to skip the overview, just click the Go button on the bottom right of the screen. The Overview allows you to see the component functions of the Power Presentations program. To see more about a specific feature, just click in the image for an in-depth review. Go back to the home page of the overview by clicking the Home symbol. At any time during the Overview, or at any point in the program, you can exit by clicking the X button. This will close the current window. 1

Using the Main Menu Click Go on the home page to get started. Select your chapter from the drop down menu at the top of the Table of Contents. Click on any part of the Chapter or Lesson to begin the presentation. Lesson headings can be collapsed or opened using the arrows. The Review Game and the Rand McNally Atlas can be accessed from the bottom of the Chapter menu. To access the Help menu at any point, click the question mark. 2

Navigating the Power Presentations & Images Visuals associated with a slide can be expanded to fill the screen by clicking on the image itself, or on magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of the image. To restore the view back to the slide text, simply click the image or the magnifying glass again. This feature will work with all of the photos and maps in the program. Presentations are aligned directly to the lesson and section headings of your McDougal Littell textbook. To navigate from slide to slide, simply click the Next or Previous buttons at the bottom of the page. Slides can also be printed out. Click on the Print icon at the top of the page to print by chapter, by section, or by slide. 3

Interactives Many slides also include interactive maps and animations. These are clearly labeled at the top of the image. To launch the interactive animation, first click on the image or the magnifying glass at the bottom left. Clicking on action tools like buttons or arrows brings the interactive presentation to life, demonstrating key concepts in an engaging, multimedia format. 4

Working with the Media Gallery To access the Media Gallery, click on the View button from the main page. The drop-down menu at the top allows you to switch chapters, and the tabs allow you to view by media type. Click on an image to see the preview, and use the magnifying glass icon to expand it. To see the other media types available, just click the tabs at the top. 5

Accessing Activities Click the Activities button to link to activities for that lesson. From this page you can launch the Review Game, link to ClassZone, the Student PowerPoint Guide, and the Rand McNally Atlas. To return to the slide presentation, just click the X button on the top right. 6

Review Game After launching the Review Game, click Start to begin. Select a topic from the list of topics on the main page. A question will appear related to the topic and chapter. Click Answer to see the answer. Each question reveals a segment of an image. After all questions are answered the full image is revealed. 7

Rand McNally Atlas After launching the Atlas, click on the Table of Contents to select a map. Click the Map Legend button to display or hide the legend. Click the zoom in/zoom out and scroll keys at the top of the page to re-image your map. To restore the map, click the button in the center of the scroll tools. 8

Editing Slides From the main page choose Edit/Create Chapter on the bottom left. The Create Chapter Wizard will launch. Select whether you’d like to edit the selected chapter or start with a blank chapter You’ll be returned to the main page, but the Present/Edit toggle switch will be visible. To edit a slide, switch the toggle to Edit. When you click on a slide from the main page in Edit mode, the slide will appear. You can now edit the text and add or replace graphics and animation. 9

Editing Slides (continued) To edit text, simply highlight the text you’d like edited and replace it. To change or add a graphic, just click on the image to be taken to the Media Gallery.* After editing the slide, click the Save button to save your changes. Your edited slide will appear in the My Chapters section on the main page. *For more on the Media Gallery see pages on Working with the Media Gallery 10
