Milestones In 2009, we incorporated Juvenile mental health and substance abuse services, in an attempt to provide added services to youth offenders. Milestones will offer more diversity and enable us to address a wide range of psychosocial needs beyond substance abuse, but also offering mental health counseling. It is our goal to offer assistance to local schools and agencies in dealing with these issues in an effort to keep them out of the criminal system in the future as well as create a better life for them.

Treatment Program Challenges  Trying to provide timely treatment to the growing number of mentally ill offenders in jail.  Due to lack of community services, many agencies feel that the jail is a stable place to send a mentally ill person where they will receive treatment.  In most cases, we are only able to provide short-term crisis intervention. However, long-term counseling is needed.  Trying to provide timely treatment to the growing number of mentally ill offenders in jail.  Due to lack of community services, many agencies feel that the jail is a stable place to send a mentally ill person where they will receive treatment.  In most cases, we are only able to provide short-term crisis intervention.
