IEA-Retired 25 th Anniversary – – 2015  1983 NEA RA established an ad hoc committee to study the inclusion of retired members  1985 NEA by-laws amended to integrate retired members & require unified membership  1986 IEA Organization and Membership Development Committee charged to establish guidelines for a retired program, continuing their work for the next 2 years

 1990 RA NBI to create IEA-Retired and to begin actively organizing IEA-Retired members beginning with those who retire in 1990  1989 IEA RA NBI authorized the forming of a committee for developing an IEA Retired Program  1989 IEA RA NBI authorized a Retired Membership Committee Retired Membership Committee members were: Dennis Koutouzos, Chair Carol Bland, Staff Anne Davis Virginia Gosse, retiree Keith Hauge, Retiree Molly Phalen This group recommended the following NBI in 1990, which passed.

IEA-Retired Staff Liaisons Carol Bland Stacy Burroughs Kim Riley  2013 RA passed budget funding full-time retired para-professional staff position. Kim Riley filled this position during the pilot of this program and continues today in this position. Carol Bland

 2014 IEA-Retired was asked to showcase our program at the NEA-Retired Organizing Conference in Houston.

 2014 IEA-Retired reached original goal of a retired chapter out of every IEA region office. We now have 27 chapters – 25 in Illinois, 1 in Florida and 1 in Arizona. Several more chapters are in the formation stages.  2014 RA bylaw requiring retired chapter membership along with IEA/NEA-Retired membership to be elected to the Council of Retirees, Chair and Vice Chair, and RA delegates Council of Retirees
