Milestone Testing Tips

Remember This Testing Tip! Read of the directions before you answer the question.

Remember This Testing Tip! Don’t waste your energy being nervous! and do your best!

Remember This Testing Tip! at a reasonable time each night before testing.

Remember This Testing Tip! Eat a good breakfast. Skipping breakfast is not ideal; neither is overeating.

Remember This Testing Tip! Read the whole question and all possible answers before marking your answer.

Remember This Testing Tip! Answer question! Make an educated guess.

Remember This Testing Tip! If you must guess, be sure to eliminate wrong answers first.

Remember This Testing Tip! Do not allow yourself to be distracted by noises or movements around you.

Remember This Testing Tip! While taking the test, be sure to on the Answer Document to the item number in the test booklet. match the number

Remember This Testing Tip! Know how much time you have to complete each section. so that you finish each test. Pace yourself

Remember This Testing Tip! Do not spend too much time on difficult questions. If you are stuck, move on and return later to the question and attempt again.

Remember This Testing Tip! If you answer all of the questions before time is called, go back and CHECK your ANSWERS.

Remember This Testing Tip! YES Tip #13: Be sure to fill in the circle on your Answer Sheet NEATLY and COMPLETELY. Erase all stray marks.

Remember This Testing Tip! For math questions, if you are permitted to write in the test booklet…work out your problems in the booklet instead of on the scratch paper.  This may prevent you from copying problems incorrectly and save you time.

Remember This Testing Tip! Beware of tricky questions like “all of the following are true EXCEPT…” Are they asking you to find the TRUE statement, or the FALSE one?

Remember This Testing Tip! Rely on your knowledge and don't watch for patterns. Noticing that the last four answers are "c" is not a good reason to change an answer. Change answers only when you are certain. The answer which comes to mind first is often correct.

Remember This Testing Tip! In reading comprehension sections, the questions demand serious reading. You might be tempted to "speed-read." Do not scan paragraphs and pages as fast as you can while hunting for main ideas. Main ideas usually aren't quickly accessible from "speed-reading" texts.

Remember This Testing Tip! Other words to pay special attention to: LEAST, MOST, BEST, BUT, MORE, ONLY, ALWAYS, ALL, NEVER, NOT…

Remember This Testing Tip! Use of the time you are given. If you have 60 minutes to finish a test, use 60 minutes!

Remember This Testing Tip! Work backwards! Sometimes you can use the ANSWERS given to solve problems. Ex. m - 642 = 799 157 B. 1,341 C. 1,441 D. 1,442 Forgot how to solve? Plug in each answer to the problem and see if it is correct!

Remember This Testing Tip! LAST Tip If your test provides a formulas page, be sure to USE it. Do not try to guess.
