Loch Ness

The Lake Loch Ness is a big lake in the Scottish Highlands. Loch Ness is the 2nd biggest lake in Scotland after Loch Lomond. It contains more fresh water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined. Loch Ness acts as a reservoir to generate electricity for the national grid.

The Monster The Lochness monster is known as Nessie. It is most commonly thought of as a long necked aquatic reptile. People also think that it might be a giant eel. People think that the Loch Ness monster first appeared in the 1930s but the first recorded sighting was by Saint Columba in 565. People have looked for Nessie for many years but have never found her.

The Military Tattoo

The Military tattoo is a show given by the military bands and display teams in Edinburgh. The Tattoo takes place in Edinburgh Castle. The Military Tattoo is part of the annual Edinburgh Festival. The first official Tattoo began in 1950 with just 8 items in the programme1950 Just over 217,000 people see the Tattoo live and 100 million see it on the television.

The Tattoo is run for charity and over the years has raised over 5 million pounds. And it also raises over 82 million for Edinburgh´s economy each year. Over 30 countries are represented at the tattoo including, The Netherlands, South Africa and so on…. The evening ends with the flag lowering ceremony and the performance of the Last Post.
