22 38 O 53 N, 77 O 05 W PAGE 261 NERDS BY MICHAEL BUCKLEY MISSING SCENES BY WYATT COKE …“The world is under attack. If we don’t stop Dr. Jigsaw, lots of people are going to die.” Jackson told his father. “What are you telling me, Jackson?” “I’m going to be late for dinner,” he said as he turned back to the rocket. The Hyena waved and stepped inside. Jackson followed. A moment later, the machine was blasting off once more. “Uh, Dad? Since we’re confessing things, I should probably tell you that I got cut from the football team,” Chaz said. But his father was too busy staring up at the stream of smoke rising to the heavens.…

O 53 N, 77 O 05 W PAGE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN PAGE 261 & 304 NERDS BY MICHAEL BUCKLEY MISSING SCENES BY WYATT COKE Mr. Jones stared up at where the rocket disappeared. He could have stood there all day, just wondering about his son, NERDS, and which therapist he should talk to first, but it didn’t happen that way when he realized he was holding the hose which was still on. That explained why his leg was suddenly waterlogged with tap water. He turned back to Chaz and Butch, and continued to half-heartedly wash the dog, but he was thinking of something very different. After a long night of worrying, Mr. Jones’s son had finally returned home. “Hi, Dad,” Jackson said. “I’m done saving the world.” Jackson’s dad smiled. “Why didn’t you tell me you were a secret agent sooner?” he said sarcastically. “Well, looks like it’s back to plain old me again. Dropping grades and repeating the 5 th grade,” Jackson sighed. Mr. Jones suddenly laid eyes on Butch, who was making snarling noises in his sleep. “You know what? How about I try to convince Mr. Dehaven to promote you to the sixth grade, now that this whole situation occurred.” he said. “I hope he will.” “Well good. Now here’s the plan…”

[COMPLETE] EPILOGUE 38 O 53 N, 77 O 05 W PAGES NERDS BY MICHAEL BUCKLEY MISSING SCENES BY WYATT COKE Sometime in the middle of the school year, Mr. Jones forgot about (for some reason he didn’t know) why his son was so special, and why he needed to help him, but he knew that he should. He may have found out later, but that’s another story. After months of training, Butch became Mr. Jones’s guard dog. He was also taught in the process about maiming (though not too furiously) the people Mr. Jones ordered him to. A few days before the end of school, Mr. Jones tried to convince Mr. Dehaven to let his son graduate to the 6 th grade, but after everything he said, the principal still wouldn’t budge. Finally, he played his last card: he summoned Butch and ordered him to play “get the principal until he calls for me and I tell you stop”. The game ended in about 10 minutes. It was fun for everyone (except for Mr.Dehaven). Eventually, Mr. Dehaven gave up and let Jackson move to the sixth grade. THE END END TRANSMISION

Congratulations. Again. You have just finished reading a version of the missing data from our case file one. But we couldn’t have done it without support from the Nēnē Book Awards. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to gather all this lost information. I guess you’re good enough, so I’ll grant you special Level S-1X (top Secret unlimited full access or X access for case file 1) clearance, plus some feedback on what readers, members, and snoops have about case file one, all brought to you by the Nēnē Book Awards! Ta-ta for now, and good luck!

INFORMATION ON THE MAKING OF THIS ENTRY I entered this contest after I was told what the book this year was: NERDS. I’ve read the book already, and it was a real good one! I like to do things not many others would do, so I chose a slide show. I figured each slide would be one section of the story. But then came my next problem: What part do I do? I decided to imagine what happened behind the scenes of the tremendous climax, back at home. It actually turned out pretty well. My dad and school librarian (Ms. Ahlman) helped give corrections by going over the slide show and looking at any errors or mistakes I didn’t catch. My friends weren’t really there, but I put them in the credits because they encouraged me to do this, and to keep on trying. Now I have a great slide show, with a scoop of my ideas and imagination, and a sprinkle of teamwork!
