SHEPARD’S CLOSET PROGRAM By: Catherine Faulk, Julie Plunkett, Abbi Tracy, Stephen Stensel, Alex Day, Adriana Roberts

What is the Shepard’s Closet Shepard’s Closet is a non-profit clothing donation service for foster children and their families. Shepard’s Closet provides completely free clothing items for children from birth to their teenage years.

Founder of this Program The founder of this program is Ruth Meyer. Mrs. Meyer is married to Carl Meyer and has four children, two of which she adopted from foster care. Mrs. Meyer is a member of New Vision Church.

The History of this Program This charity was started three years ago in Rutherford County by Ruth Meyer and three other foster mothers. Mrs. Meyer started this program because of the calling that she received when she met two foster children who had absolutely nothing in there possessions. The reason why this charity is so important is because the state does not fund clothing allowances, so most children only have the clothes on their backs

Our Mission at The Shepard’s Closet Our jobs at Shepard’s Closet varied from sorting clothes and shoes to making flyers to hand out to the community.

On our first two visits, we sorted donation clothing that Mrs. Meyer had received and then we hung up all of the donations and placed them on different racks.

The second task that we did for Shepard’s Closet was to make a promotional flyer for Mrs. Meyer in order to raise awareness within the community for this charity.

What You Can Do to Help Shepard’s Closet is always accepting donations of clothing and shoes for all ages All donations are greatly appreciated, but as of right now, Shepard’s Closet is in most need of clothing for teenagers, but especially teenage boy clothing items. If you have any donations, the Shepard’s Closet is located on South Church Street and you can contact Mrs. Meyers by text message at (615)
