Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit;.. Luke 2:5 to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. 6 And while they were there, the time came for her to be delivered. 7 And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

Matthew 1:18.. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit; 19 and her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. Matthew 1:21 She will bear a Son, and you shall call his name Jesus [in Hebrew means Savior], for He will save His people from their sins [that is, prevent their failing and missing the true end and scope of life, which is God].

Matthew 1:22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: 23 "Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel" (which means, God with us).

Virgin or Young Woman? The text of Isaiah as canonized in Hebrew by the rabbis 90AD. [virgin, young woman of marriageable age, maid or newly married]. The 200 BC Septuagint text, including the Apocrypha, as used by the early church, canonized in Greek by the church 360 AD. Clearly translates [‘virgin’]

Most Hebrew words have a much broader range of legitimate translation than the Greek words which are more specific. The tendency in most modern translations is to give greater weight to the Hebrew text of the OT than to the Greek Septuagint.

The rabbis, outgrowth of the Pharisees, canonized out the Apocrypha, and used the Hebrew text of the O.T. The early church used the Greek text of the O.T. Septuagint which included the Apocrypha (translated from Hebrew about 200 BC).
