A NEW CREATION IN CHRIST Pine Grove Church of Christ – 01/02/11

A New Creation in Christ  II Corinthians 5:17 –  “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

A New Creation in Christ  Forgiving the Past

Forgiving the Past  Hebrews 10:16-17 –  “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”  Ephesians 1:7 –  “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins”

Forgiving the Past  I Timothy 1:12-16 –  “I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy”  Acts 2:36-38 –  “let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

A New Creation in Christ  Forgiving the Past  A New Person

A New Person  Romans 6:3-8 –  “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

A New Purpose  II Corinthians 5:15 –  “and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again”  Galatians 2:20 –  “it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in Me”

A New Purpose  I Peter 2:21 –  “Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps”

A New Goal  Philippians 3:13-14 –  “but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

A New Goal  Colossians 3:1-2 –  “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above”  Matthew 6:19-21 –  “lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven”

Conclusion  A New Creation in Christ:  Forgiving the Past  A New Person  A New Purpose  A New Goal

Conclusion  Are you a new creation in Christ?  Are you a Child of God?  Have your sins been washed away by the blood of Jesus?  If not, why not come NOW?  II Corinthians 6:2 – “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation”

God’s Plan of Salvation  Hear the Word of God (Romans 10:17)  Believe in Jesus (Mark 16:16)  Repent of Sins (Acts 2:38)  Confess Faith in Christ (Acts 8:37-38)  Be Baptized in Water (Galatians 3:26-27)  Remain Faithful (Revelations 2:10)  If err, repent and pray to God (Acts 8:22)

Lord’s Supper  Partaking of the Bread:  Matthew 26:26 –  “Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, ‘Take, eat; this is my body”

Lord’s Supper  Partaking of the Fruit of the Vine:  Matthew 26:27-28 –  “Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins”

Giving  II Corinthians 9:7 –  “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver."
