What are POLs?

Logistics Every student presents a POL each semester Graded by a panel of teachers Separate grade on transcript Performance goes into class grades as well

Presentation Attire You must be in professional dress in order to present: – you forfeit your time slot – you must work in presentation room for the remainder of the week – You must schedule a make-up presentation for the afternoon – Your grade is lowered 10% BoysGirls Button down shirt, tie, dress pants, dress shoes, belt Professional blouse, professional skirt or slacks, professional closed toe shoes

Presentation Attendance If you are late for a presentation: – you forfeit your time slot – you must work in presentation room for the remainder of the week – You must schedule a make-up presentation for the afternoon – Your grade is lowered 10% If you are not present for your time slot: – You will not pass your POL and will not be able to re- present

Audience All of your teachers will be on your panel Additional guests may also be present You may invite parents or friends from outside of Da Vinci You may have Da Vinci Friends watch your POL if: – They are in your school (DVC) – They are in your grade level – They arrive at the beginning of the session and stay for the entire session (not just your presentation)

Day of Presentation On the day your presentation is scheduled: – You are in your seat ready to present at 8:00am – You have your computer with PPT loaded – You have physical evidence ready – You have a printed copy of your script ready to give teachers (MLA format) – You have a stamped script outline You will be in the presentation room for the entire morning You must be respectful of all presenters and work silently during presentations

Green Room On the days you are scheduled for the Green room: – Monday/Tuesday You must finish your POL and Practice a minimum of 10 times. – Wednesday/Thursday/Friday You must be working with your TEDx group – You must continue to refine your POL if you did not pass, or are asked by a teacher to work on it.
