Significant Safety Achievements- 3/15 Continue Work Planning and Control (WPC) projects/activity set-up for ETA divisions. We have begun adding personnel to activities. A draft ETA Integrated Safety Management Plan was distributed to the Safety Committee for review. This includes major revisions. The glove box self assessment project continues. Data has been collected and is being compiled into a report. A preliminary electrical inspection of the B60 air conditioner test chamber was completed. The major chemical container/sample clean-out of the B62 (Kerr) lab areas is nearly completed. Only a few trays of samples remain. A Safety Alert was issued to all ETA personnel regarding fire prevention through improved housekeeping in their work areas. I completed additional chemical clean-outs in B63-101, B70-134, B70-264A, and (behind hood area). I completed a 12-hour NFPA-45 Laboratory Fire Protection training course.

Short Term Safety Outlook- 4/15 Continue the set-up of the Work Planning and Control (WPC) “projects” and “activities” framework for ETA. Complete the Glove Box Operation Self-Assessment project report for submittal. Complete the annual review and update of the ETA Integrated Safety Management (ISM) Plan. Complete an old chemical/sample clean-out in the lab area. Continue to address ETA equipment on the electrical equipment “fail” list Assist with the set-up for new lab areas , B33 JCESR, and B60 test chambers. Conduct a quarterly SAA hazardous waste inspection. Address the recent issue involving perchlorate use in the labs. Hold an ETA Safety Committee meeting on 4/2/15.
