1.9 Patterns, Equations, and Graphs

A solution of an equation with two variables x and y is any ordered pair ( x,y) that makes the equation true.

Is (3,10) a solution of the equation y= 4x? Substitute the value of the variables into he equation y= 4x 10= 4 x 3 10≠12 so this is not a solution

Is (-2,3) a solution of the equation y= 2x +7? Substitute the value of the variables into he equation y= 2x+7 3=2 x -2 +7 3=3 so this is a solution

How old is Ty if Bea is 51? Use a table to represent each relationship: Ty is 3 years younger than Bea. Ty Bea 5 8 6 9 7 10 11 12

How much does Tom earn for 7 lawns? Use a table to represent each relationship: Tom makes $15.00 for each lawn that he mows lawns $ 1 15 2 30 3 ? 4 5
