Xerxes sends 50,000 more men to assault the pass they failed. Xerxes stopped the assault Persians given info of Greek traitor who knows a way around the pass. Xerxes accepts his offer.

Phocians were attacked at dawn. The Persians fired"showers of arrows" at them. Phocians retreated to the crest of the mountain to make their stand. Persians took the left branch of the pass to Alpenus and then circled behind the Greeks.

In the end the Spartans lost Persians found out how hard it was to kill 300 Spartans They didn’t relish the thought of fighting 10,000 Spartans or 20,000 Spartans
