Land Expansion Prior to WWII the entire WMU campus was located east of Stadium Dr. By 1952 the campus had quadrupled. Between 1954 and acres were bought north of West Michigan Dr. resources/wmu-campus-album/

In 1952… WMU’s campus included… – 2 classroom building (McCracken Hall and Harper Maybee Music Hall) – An administration building – Four dormitories resources/wmu-campus-album/

In the 1950’s WMU added… The Field House Physical education building Student center Waldo Library Two apartment buildings for married couples Five dormitories resources/wmu-campus-album/

In the 1960’s WMU added… Eight more classroom buildings The health center Six more dormitories Shaw Theatre and Miller Auditorium resources/wmu-campus-album/

In the 1970’s WMU added… Four more classroom buildings Recreational center resources/wmu-campus-album/

A more beautiful and better WMU campus After the 1970’s Western Michigan University began to add flowers and shrubs to the campus During this time West Michigan Dr. was closed to create a pedestrian campus resources/wmu-campus-album/
