GSOD 1.0 GSOD 2.0 look back look ahead

Why did we put a pause on GSOD Provider Focus Groups – Summer 2011 and Summer 2012 – we listened and made changes. Providers’ concerns about ITERS and ECERS Teacher-child interaction to be measured better in GSOD CLASS – Classroom Assessment and Scoring System – measure of teacher-child interaction Research suggests that children in classrooms with higher CLASS scores have better outcomes Race To The Top Challenge Grants’ expectations – CLASS All of the above required a revisit of GSOD 1.0 standards

15 GSOD 2.0 – A Brief Preview GSOD 1.0 GSOD 2.0 Learning Environment – ITERS / ECERS Structure Quality indicators within a classroom - checklist Staff Qualifications and Professional Development No Change Ratio and Group Size No Change Curriculum Better organization of indicators – makes it stronger Program Operations No Change Teacher Child Interaction – Infants and Toddlers Missouri Responsive Caregiver Checklist Teacher Child Interaction – Preschool CLASS – PRE K – Classroom Assessment and Scoring System

16 Guiding Stars of Duval Moving the Goal Post Quality Rating and Improvement System An investment in quality early learning Changing from ‘day care’ to early learning centers Goal post - from child care supply to child care quality Children better prepared to learn and succeed
