This year in Science we learn a variety of Physical Science, Earth Science, & Life Science! It is so much fun so the kids get a taste of many different science topics. Students will use their science journals to take notes and to keep up with handouts. We have a new Science Textbook this year that is a consumable! It is also completely online as well for at home use! Please see my website for more info. How Can You Help Your Child At Home? *Ask them to bring their Science journal home & go through it with them! *Discuss & review the vocabulary words in their journals with them. *Log on to the Online Textbook and read with them! *Bring Science topics into your dinner conversation & have them help you measure when cooking! Every little bit helps!

~ Students use SpringBoard, written by the College Board ~This year students will explore the theme of ‘Change’ through their reading and their writing. ~Writing skills are taught and developed using mentor texts and other multimodal sources. Students will experience creating written products using the writing process as well as quick writes and other writing tasks to address various writing needs. ~Integrated through the textbook are lessons of language study, including academic vocabulary, literacy terms, and word connections using context clues from Latin and other roots, as well as lessons in grammar, and conventions use in writing. Reading widely and regularly is one of the most important things your child can do at home to develop their writing ability! Kathy Keim
