Northern and Southern Hemisphere The Northern and Southern Hemisphere are created by an imaginary east-west line known as the equator.
Eastern and Western Hemisphere The Eastern and Western Hemisphere are created by an imaginary north-south line known as the prime meridian.
Latitude Latitude – imaginary parallel lines that run around Earth in an east-west direction; one of these lines is known as the Equator. Parallel – another name for a line of latitude
Longitude Longitude – imaginary lines that run in a north-south direction from one pole to another; one of these lines is known as the Prime Meridian Meridian – another name for a line of longitude
Global Grid Global Grid – a pattern of crossed lines formed by lines of latitude and lines of longitude.
