Five Goals for the Byway Michener’s Chesapeake Country Scenic Byway Preserve and conserve the character of the Byway’s historic sites, landscapes, towns and shorelines. Provide a distinctive and compelling travel experience Use the Byway as tool to extend visitor stays Expanding the range of things to see and do on the Eastern Shore for both visitors and residents Accommodates the wide range of needs for all roadway users while maintaining the character defining features of the Byway context.

…What are the Next Steps 1.Interpretive Plan - funded 2.Route marking replacement signs (fewer signs and coordinated with TAC signs) - funded 3.Establish nine-county coordinating committee (working through heritage areas and tourism offices) 4.Reference CMP in Comprehensive Plans in each jurisdiction – this will help in pursuing outside funding 5.Pursue outside funding for high priority projects Michener’s Chesapeake Country Scenic Byway
