2003/HU/16/P/PE/021 – Szombathely Reconstruction and Upgrading works of the Sewage Treatment Plant On 28th November 03 the Financing Memorandum of the Project has been signed by the European Comission On 11th February 04 the Financing Memorandum of the Project has been signed by the Republic of Hungary On 28th May 04 a Consortium Agreement has been signed by the Municipalities involved into the Development for the implementation of the Project. In this Agreement Szombathely County Town has been nominated as a Gestor. The agreement bonds the VASIVÍZ ZRt for cooperation on the course of implementation. The preparation of the Project has been completed on 4th February 05 by signing the Financing Memorandum made between Szombathely County Town and the Ministry of Environment and Water The first Service Contract of the Project has been signed on 22nd September 05 to provide Expert’s Services by the Canor International Ltd. for the tasks of „Engineer” Implementation of the Project

Date of Site Delivery was 15th June 06. The Design and Works have been commenced according to the approved Time Schedule Reinforced concrete structure of the fermentation towers, the outer wall of stair- house, furhtermore the northern and southern walls of the head-exchange plant have been completed. Concrete structures of the sandtrap, screen-house and the new pump have been completed. The educational-house, the service engine-house, the boiler-room and the roof of the sludge-treatment engine house have been completed. 2003/HU/16/P/PE/021 – Szombathely Reconstruction and Upgrading works of the Sewage Treatment Plant 1st April 07 – 30 June 07 Construction of the structure and installation of technology in the fermentation towers have been completed. The achieved level of progress is about 80% in case of technological installation in sludge-treatment engine house, furthermore in case of screen and sand-trap the progress is about 90%. 2003/HU/16/P/PE/021 – Szombathely Reconstruction and Upgrading works of the Sewage Treatment Plant Installation of machinery : 95% of completion can be recorded in the following facilities: new screen and sand-trap, new sewage-pump, sludge-treatment engine-house, fermentation facilities and heat-exchange engine – house, biogas-separatos and gas-dewatering shaft. 80% of completion : stone-trap and existing sand-trap Electrical installation of the following facilities have been completed: sewage pump, sludge-settling basins, recirculation engine-house, equalising basin, pump for sludge-overflow, pump for the non-drinking water-supply. 96% completion : sludge-treatment engine-house. 95% completion: fermentation and heat-exchange engine-house, shaft of settled sludge-pump, central engine-house, stone-trap and existing sand-trap, new screen and sand-trap, biogas-separator and gas-dewatering shaft, gas storage,gas-torch, gas- receiving and measuring shaft. Regarding to Installation of control-technology, fermentation facilities and heat-exchange engine-house have been completed. 96 % of completion: new screen and sand-trap, new sewage pump, sludge – treatment engine- house, biogas-separator and gas-dewatering shaft, gas-storage, gas-torch, gas receiving and measuring shaft. 90% of completion: stone-trap and existing sand-trap, 85 % of completion: central engine-house, 20 % of completion: shaft for the pumps of settled sludge Conveyor lines inside the Plant: lines of gas-supply and iron-salt supply lines have been completed. 95% of completion: polluted air lines, furthermore non-drinking water-supply lines. 40% of completion: drinking water supply

10th August 07 – In the frame of Open Day the Public had the opportunity to get a view into the modern technology of wastewater treatment and sludge treatment on a Site Visit and a chance to get convinced about the successful results achieved in the Project 2003/HU/16/P/PE/021 – Szombathely Reconstruction and Upgrading works of the Sewage Treatment Plant Open Day at the Sewage Treatment Plant

The 6 months long Trial Operation launched at the end of March has been completed on 30th September 08. The Project has been completed in time, meeting with requirements of the Amended Contract Results achieved  On the course of extension and Upgrading the Sewage Treatment Plant facilities of mechanical pre-treatment and sewage treatment have been implemented  Conditions of operation has been established, on one hand satisfying both of Hungarian and EU legislation and on the other hand providing long-term feasible operation of sewage treatment and sludge-treatment technology  Elimination of odour-pollution of air in the neighborhood of the Plant is predictable. 2003/HU/16/P/PE/021 – Szombathely Reconstruction and Upgrading works of the Sewage Treatment Plant
