The Olympic flame or torch is a symbol of the Olympics. Each 4 years the high priestess lights the torch, but the sun lights the flame.

Torch history The Olympic torch first started in Greece. The torch and relay were important elements of the ancient Greece Olympics. Then the torch was handed over to the new host city at another ceremony in the Panathenaiko stadium in Athens.
