What do you think you know about the Statue of Liberty?
The Statue of Liberty is a man-made landmark located on Liberty Island in New York Harbor.
This landmark was given as a gift in 1884 from France.
People come to see this landmark because it symbolizes freedom to people all over the world.
The Statue of Liberty is made from pounded copper. The statue is over 151 feet tall. The arm holding the torch was sent to Philadelphia for America’s 100 th birthday celebration in 1876.
statue A statue is a three dimensional work of art, usually in the shape of a person or other animal.
torch A torch is a stick with material on one end that can be burned to provide light.
tablet A tablet is a flat surface usually used for writing.
harbor A harbor is a protected body of water near the shore where ships can find shelter. The Statue of Liberty is located in the New York Harbor.
