Lesson 19 – 3rd Challenge 20:27-40 The Sadducees approach Jesus next with an “unanswerable dilemma” The hypocrisy was obvious …they did not even believe in the basic premise of this “dilemma” they present Jesus v. 27

Lesson 19 – 3rd Challenge 20:27-40 They correctly quote Moses v. 28 Deut 25 Their “dilemma” – vv A woman’s husband died…she married his brother…he also died…she went through all 6 of her husband’s brothers…at last, she died “In the resurrection” – whose wife is she???

Lesson 19 – 3rd Challenge 20:27-40 Jesus responds re: the nature of those in the resurrection vv We will be as the angels…no marriage These Jews were “mistaken, not knowing the Scripture nor the power of God”…they had obviously not read cp. Mt 22:29, 31

Lesson 19 – A Question… 20:41-44 Jesus appears to keep the “theme” going This time, He is the one who has a question “How is the Christ David’s Son? Does not David call Him, ‘Lord?’” cp. Psa 110:1 He was unlike them…His motivation was not impure or trying to be “tricky” cp. v. 23
