Alexander as a child Born on july 20th 356 bc King of Macedonia Son of Phillip the second, king of Macedonia His mother was Olympias daughter of the king of Epirus He was tutored by Aristotle as a teenager Alexander was given a copy of the iliad when he was thirteen from Aristotle During his youth, Alexander tamed the wild horse Bucephalus. Later, when his beloved horse died, Alexander renamed a city in India for Bucephalus.

Alexander Gains the Throne In 336bc Alexander’s father was assasinated leaving the throne to him. He killed his competitors to secure control of the throne for himself. When he took throne he also took control of the army. This is what he is famous for.

Alexander's wives and children Alexander the great married three different women during his reign of Macedonia. He had two children. Though his children were well protected they were both killed before they could reach adulthood.

Alexander's Greatest Battles and Conquests Battle of Granicus Battle of Issus Battle of Gaugemala Battle of Hydapes Conquest of Egypt All of these battles were fought against the Persians except the Conquest of Egypt. He was planning to conquer more of persia when his death came unexpectedly.

The Mystery of Alexander's Death Alexander died in 323 BC at the young age of thirty three years old. There are many legends relating to his death but the real cause is unknown. Some believe he was killed by malaria. Others believe he was poisoned when drinking unmixed wine in honor of Hercules.
