The Play of the Diary of Anne Frank Act 2, Scene 5

Act 2, Scene 5 We return to the beginning of the play (circular plot structure). Mr Frank reveals who he thinks betrays them and how he found out about the fate of the others. He finishes reading the diary and acknowledges how special Anne was.

Act 2, Scene 4: The themes that are explored through the characters and incidents in this scene are: Loss Triumph over Adversity

Questions & Answers: What relief did the Dutch concentration camp bring Anne? She had been cooped up in the Annex for two years. It was a relief for her to be able to run around outside, make a noise and interact with others. How does Mr Frank hear about the fate of the others? As he made his way back to Amsterdam, he met other survivors who shared their knowledge of the fate of others. Why does Anne “put [Mr Frank] to shame”? She puts him to shame because she refused to give up her faith in the human race, despite the evils that she had experienced. She still chose to believe that people are really good at heart.
