It’s a visitor’s attraction in Cornwall in the United Kingdom. It’s a big complex with different environments. It consists over a thousand plant species. The main two houses there are domes. In one dome there is a mediterranean environment, in the second one there is a tropical environment.
The project was launched by Tim Smit. It was designed by architect Nicholas Grimshaw. The project took two and a half years to construct. It was opened on the 17th of March, 2001.
It’s 35 metres high, 65 metres wide and 135 metres long. It houses warm temperate plants such as olives and grape vines, but there are also some sculptures inside the dome.
It’s 55 metres high, 100 metres wide and 200 metres long. It is used for tropical plants such as banana trees, coffe, bamboo. It is kept at moisture level.
This terrain is not covered. There are plants such as sunflowers, tea and lavender. There are also many sculptures.
