What is Spastic Paralysis? A chronic, pathological condition in which the muscles are affected by persistent spasms and exaggerated tendon reflexes because of damage to motor nerves of the central nervous system Spastic Paralysis is a symptom of many common diseases and they work together to harm the central nervous system Is also present in MS. (Multiple Sclerosis)

OQ Spastic Paralysis

Diseases Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Stroke Brain tumors Fragile X Syndrome Alzheimer’s Spina Bifida Neonatal Care and Development Disabilities of Prematurely Born Babies

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Women who drink alcohol during pregnancy can give birth to babies with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. These disorders range from mild to severe. They can be behavioral, physical, related to learning, or all of the above.

Stroke Rehabilitation Rehabilitation helps stroke survivors relearn skills that are lost when part of the brain is damaged. For example, these skills can include coordinating leg movements in order to walk or carrying out the steps involved in any complex activity. Rehabilitation also teaches survivors new ways of performing tasks to circumvent or compensate for any residual disabilities

Brain Tumors Abnormal growth of cells within the brain or the central spinal canal.

Fragile X Syndrome Fragile X syndrome is an inherited genetic disease that causes intellectual and developmental disabilities. Inherited means that the disease is passed down from parents to children through their genes. Fragile X syndrome is the most common hereditary source of mental disability in boys. People with fragile X syndrome usually experience a range of developmental and learning problems. The disease is a life-long condition. Only some people with fragile X syndrome are able to live independently. Twice as common in males as females.

Alzheimer’s The most common cause of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease (AD). AD is a progressive and irreversible brain disorder. The actual cause of AD is unknown. AD slowly damages, and then destroys, a person’s memory, judgment, reasoning skills, personality, autonomy, and bodily functions.

Spina Bifida Developmental congenital disorder caused by the incomplete closing of the embryonic neural tube. Some vertebrae overlying the spinal cord are not fully formed and remain unfused and open. If the opening is large enough, this allows a portion of the spinal cord to protrude through the opening in the bones

Why Spastics? With Spastics, we not only raise money for one cause, but for several causes. All the money we raise goes to further research into the diseases. The more money we raise, the sooner we can find cures and ways to limit the effect of the diseases.
