SHU ART ACADEMY TIMETINE pre production By Natalia Magdalene

SHU ART ACADEMY HERITAGE My video is about transformation of 171 years of SHU art heritage. Video will include the timeline of events and interviews to show how SHU got to where it is now. How Art Academy is represented now and how could it look in the future.

TARGET AUDIENCE I am going to target everyone that is interested in Art of Sheffield and Hallam University. Starting from random YouTube users, future students of Hallam Uni, present students, staff, people interested in Hallam’s Gallery exhibition, artists, art lovers etc.

INSPIRATION I got inspired while trying to do some research about art in SHU, as I was very impressed with it’s 170 years of tradition. Considering it’s a quite of a big deal and something to be very proud of, there is no cutting edge, teaser online yet (at least not in my opinion) I therefore decided to make it myself to promote SHU and to help future Art students find out more about the heritage of Art Studies at SHU.

SPECIFICATION The idea is to stand up to modern technology and digital video editing techniques and create a cutting edge piece that can represent the faculty of art at SHU with it’s well deserved pride and grace.

SHOT LIST total prod duration 3mins 0-30 SECS-INTRODUCTION to the SHU and Sheffield the City secs-INTERVIEW with Liam Bullingham inside the Special Collection Facilities mins- moving on from the history to present, shooting footage in the Cantor building and the gallery. Interview with Tim Muchin and his point of view on progression of Art academy in SHU mins- interview with Anne Doncaster showing her view on the future of Art the digital image of art today mins- interview with Anne Doncaster showing her view on the future of Art the digital image of art today mins- THE SUMMARY, using a playful way and footage from most popular and best looking part of Sheffield city, using a voiceover sending the conclusion of Art thru out 171 years till now.

SYNOPSIS The camera goes onto the Train station and then main building of SHU, then goes thru the hubs to the Cantor building and stops on the oldest building preserved voiceover is on while footage goes on introducing to the purpose of the video. Camera goes thru the main door of Oven building all the way to the Addsetts Centre and Special Collection Office where Liam Bullingham is found reading ‘The book of Dead’, after a creepy sudden entrance to the room he gets startled and starts off with the ongoing ghost story that goes on about SHU after that he starts talking about the History of Art and the camera goes on all the books collected in the office, while on the screen all the mentioned events are placed in animated timeline, the action is moving to the Cantor building and the gallery, where Tim Muchin is caught up in his daily routine of preparing the new exhibition. He tells us his point of view on the change in Art over the years. The camera then using time lapse travels to the Harmer building where Digital Media are Placed and films Anne Doncaster and Melvyn Ternan giving a talk to SHU award winner Dave Therelfall about the future of Art in SHU he says how digitalism is taking the art over and then goes the slideshow of facilities and hardware used in workshops. During summary the voiceover is played while camera action shows the most modern looking part of Sheffield showing how up and coming the city really is. Video is finished wit the credentials.
