SBS transition survey key points that led to Flying Start Student responses indicated they wanted: –a longer period of induction –enhanced support for university IT systems and awareness of wider support systems (counselling, education & guidance) –more information on what academics expect from students –opportunities to meet 1:1 with academic staff to discuss issues –mentoring opportunities

Flying Start Academic Programme 8 timetabled seminars throughout the 1 st semester to orientate new students to the academic expectations of The Business School Themes –Orientation and getting to know your group, IT systems, PDP and academic skills, reading, writing and marking schemes, the university experience Supported by 40 academic staff, final year students and professional services staff Skills based teaching module Enhanced affinity, course community and retention
