Gastrocnemius Soleus Gracilis Achilles Tendon By Lili Ross Period 5 gym

Gastrocnemius It is a very powerful muscle that is in the back part of the lower leg. It runs from its two heads just above the knee to the heel It is involved in standing, walking, running and jumping. Along with the soleus muscle it forms the calf muscle. Its function is flexing the foot at the ankle joint and flexing the leg at the knee joint

Exercises & Machines Standing calf raise exercises donkey calf raises Calf raise Leg press

Soleus The soleus is a powerful muscle in the back part of the lower leg It runs from just below the knee to the heel Its involved in standing and walking It is closely connected to the gastrocnemius muscle.

Exercises & Machines Standing calf raise exercises donkey calf raises Calf raise Leg press

Gracilis The muscle adducts and flexes the hip as above and also aids in flexing the knee The muscle’s fibers run vertically downward, ending in a rounded tendon.

Exercises & Machines Seated Gracilis Stretch Cable Hip Adduction Hip abductor/adductor (our new machine!)

Achilles Tendon The Achilles is the tendonous extension of 2 muscles in the lower leg: gastrocnemius and soleus. In humans, the tendon passes posterior to the ankle. It is the thickest and stronges tendon in the body. Its about 15 cm long and begins near the middle of the calf
