S Setting In the book the Maze Runner the setting takes place in the Glades. The Glade is separated by a 20 foot tall maze. The ground is covered in huge stones with weeds coming out of the cracks. There is a big stone building that is used for sleeping. Also there is the blood house that is used for keeping animals and slaughtering them for food. The for homestead is located by the blood house. It is used for medication storage and medical operations. Also it is used for keeping food and having the kitchen for cooking. This is the maze in which the runners go- into it every day to find a way out.

C Characters The main characters name is Thomas. He is the protagonist of the story. He is a dynamic Character (he is talked about the most) He is smart; Always thinking about what could be done and what should be done. He is brave and bold which was proven when he went after the griever. He is also very curious and he is nice to all of the other boys. Another major character in the story is Alby. He is the leader of the group. He is another protagonist. His leadership qualities include toughness, assertiveness. He is a rule forcer and follower. He is also honorable.

C C haracter Alby is a dynamic character and a major character. Thomas first met him when he came to the glade. He is thick, heavily muscular and Asian. Another major character in the story is Alby. He is the leader of the group. He is another protagonist. His leadership qualities include toughness, assertiveness. He is a rule forcer and follower. He is also honorable which was proven when he told everybody not to touch the girl.

C Characters Another major character in the story is Newt. Newt is a dynamic character. Newt is a protagonist. He is second in command after Alby. He also has leadership qualities. He too is a rule enforcer and follower. He is a bit for friendlier then Alby. He is nice, calm, and level headed. /

C Characters Another major character is Minho. Minho is a dynamic character. He is also a protagonist. He is the keeper of the runners. He is a nice guy but he is kind of a smart aleck. He has a kind of a leader/teacher role. He is humble, because he admitted he was scared and gave up in the maze. C Characters Another major character is Chuck Chuck is a static character. He is also a protagonist. Chuck was the Greenbean (new kid) before Thomas showed up. He was the one chosen to show Thomas around and help him out. Chuck is short and chubby but he is very nice and friendly. He is very talkative and tells Thomas a lot of things. P Plot Rising action- a sequence of events that lead up to the climax Climax- the biggest event that occurs in the book Falling action- all events that occur after the main event in the story.

P Plot - rising action Thomas entered the Glade through an box type elevator A day after Thomas was there a girl came to the glade. Newt showed Thomas the Greiver. Thomas saw Ben go through the changing. Thomas saw that the Beetle-Blade said WICKED on it. Thomas went into the forest and Ben tried to kill him. Alby shot Ben with in arrow into his head. The Keepers held a meeting to decide what to do with Ben The keepers put an collar around Bens neck and tied it to a pole. Then they put the metal pole into the maze and left him in there the entire night.

P Rising Action cont. The maze opened in the morning and Ben was gone but the pole and collar were there. Minho came out of the maze early and told Alby that he found a dead Greiver. The maze was about to close and Thomas saw Minho and Alby still in there. Thomas ran into the Maze breaking the rule to try and save them. Minho ran away saying that they needed to split. Thomas tied Alby with vines found in the maze. A griever came and chased Thomas. Thomas ran and ran until Minho pulled him of the way. Thomas and Minho came up with in idea to kill the Greivers. The Greivers fell off a cliff when they were chasing Minho and Thomas.

P Climax The climax of the story is when Alby dies. This happens when Alby sacrifices himself to help stop the Greivers from eating Thomas and the other. Eventually the Greivers over powered Alby and killed him.

P Falling Action Thomas remembers his past. Gally throws a knife at Thomas but it missed and hit and killed chuck. Alby,s sacrifice failed. It did not stop the Greivers they kept chasing after them. Thomas, Minho, Teresa, Frypan and Newt get out of the maze.

C Types of conflict Man vs. Man- In the book The Maze Runner Ben tried to kill Thomas because Ben went through the changing. When in the changing Ben saw the future where Thomas was doing something and changing the entire glade. Man vs. Society- In the book The Maze Runner Thomas is in a society where people send kids to a maze where they have figure out how to get out of the maze. Thomas is in a society where the Gladers have to map out the maze and figure out how to get out of the maze. Man vs. Self- In the book The Maze Runner Thomas the main character is dealing with a lot of pressure, to figure out the maze. Also not to be eaten or killed by the grievers.

T and R Theme and Resolution The theme of the story is “Hope” In the book The Maze Runner the Keeper’s in the glade choose people to go into the maze every day risking there lives to try and find a way out. A quote from the story “He’s alive,” he said. “Alby’s okay-the Serum worked.” This quote represents the theme because when Alby was going through the changing all the Gladers hoped that he would not die.

T and R Theme and resolution The resolution of the story is when Thomas, Teresa, Frypan, Minho and Newt go through the griever hole and escape the maze.
