Planned for His Pleasure Genesis 6-9

The Lord has made everything for His own purposes (Proverbs 16:4a) Have you figured out yours?

How can we bring God pleasure?

The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. (Genesis 6:5)

God saw that human evil was out of control God saw that human evil was out of control. People thought evil, imagined evil—evil, evil, evil from morning to night. (The Message)  But Noah was different. God liked what he saw in Noah. (Genesis 6:8—The Message)

This is the account of Noah and his family This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God. (Genesis 6:9)

When we love him completely. God finds pleasure: When we love him completely.

It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. (Hebrews 11:7a)

God finds pleasure: When we trust God fully.

So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. (Genesis 6:14) This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high. (Genesis 6:15)

Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit high all around. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. (Genesis 6:16)

You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you.  (Genesis 6:19)

Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. (Genesis 6:20) You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.” (Genesis 6:21)

When we obey God totally. God finds pleasure: When we obey God totally.

You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you.  (Genesis 6:19) Noah did everything just as God commanded him. (Genesis 6:22)

Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. (Genesis 8:20)

When we thank God continually. God finds pleasure: When we thank God continually.

In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:18) Should I give thanks for cancer? Should I give thanks for the death of a loved one?

“In everything give thanks…” Should I give thanks for a pink slip? Should I give thanks for all tragedies? “In everything give thanks…”

“God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28)

Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. (Genesis 9:1)

When we live life joyfully! God finds pleasure: When we live life joyfully!

…put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. (1 Timothy 6:17b)

We bring God pleasure by: Loving God completely Trusting God fully Obeying God totally Thanking God continually Living life joyfully

Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded to plant a vineyard Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded to plant a vineyard.  When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. (Genesis 9:19-21)

There was One who: Loved God completely Trusted God fully Obeyed God totally Thanked God continually Lived life joyfully

What must we do? Admit that we haven’t pleased Him Receive the one who did please Him —Jesus Christ Begin pleasing Him
